So after a very long travel day, I arrived back in the US last Sunday. I traveled with 2 other girls from Dakar - Paris and then from Paris - Minneapolis alone. On the way to Minneapolis my phone kept changing time zones and the flight tracker didn't work, so every time I woke up it was 1 pm. I sent a frantic text to mom. totry and figure out where I was....

The goodbye crew

And the welcome crew

I would say I'm still in the "honeymoon" phase of re-entry. I've spent the last week eating favorite foods (cue donuts, peanut butter, kombucha, sourdough). I'm sure I'll have more reflection later on but for now, this is what has struck me the most:

-So much GREEN! the grass, trees, and rain!

-Going on calm walks, like there are moments of silence and fresh air galore

-Being able to understand everyone at all times in public places. Not that I'm eavesdropping but for example at restaurants and listening to little kids playing I'm no longer oblivious

-I kind of forgot about the concept of drive-thrus

-So many options at all times! I went to Target the other day and first of all, it's so nice to have a store that has everything you could possibly need. Secondly, I needed a black belt, and not exaggerating, I had 8 different options of black belts with slightly different buckles alone, not to mention other colors. In Dakar on the other hand I could not find a belt within a 5-mile radius of my house so used a shoelace

-Going on bike rides on pavement

-Reading a menu and knowing what is going to show up on my plate'

Anyway, this probably concludes my postings, thanks for following on!
