I thought I would do a page on some of the foods we eat on a daily basis here. I would say there are 3 main dishes that we eat over and over.

  1. Yaasa: an onion-based sauce served on rice

  2. Ceebu yapp/jen: cee (rice in wolof), yapp (meat) and jen (fish). This is probably the most common dish here. Rice and meat or rice and fish all mixed together

  3. Mafé: a peanut-based (l'arachide) paste service with rice

Of course every household has its certain way of preparing each dish so it tastes a bit different wherever you eat it.... we all have our favorite cooks :)

We eat a lot of this kind of fish... not sure what it is but it's super tasty and the meat falls right off of the bone.
